I don’t mean to sound angry or disingenuous, but is it necsseary to give this guy any more air time? I mean, for each time one of us clicks on Yael’s link (and, thank you, Yaeli, for posting it but) he get’s +1 on YouTube on the views meter which raises his popularity rating. The NPR study he’s citing has already been debunked. But, that’s not the problem. The problem is that we give this guy air to fuel his rhetoric. Yes, part of the problem is us those that oppose him.We all know that he’s a nutbag. That’s is M.O. to be a nutbag. That’s his job. He’s never been anything other than a nutbag. He’s cites flawed statistics, wildly exaggerates the meaning of words and outright lies. Listening to him has always been like listening to a crazy person suffering from schizophrenia who’s disconnected from reality. Has anyone here ever seen a video or transcript or ANYTHING that ever demonstrates that he’s anything short of looney tunes??I’m sorry to say this but I firmly believe that part of the problem is us those of us who listen to him, get infuriated, then comment our anger time and again . all the while fomenting him and his followers. In their minds, those that oppose them are simply validation that they’re right that their ideology and words have some truth to them. They don’t. Like the WBC, they want to be hated. That’s what feeds them. That’s what makes them grow. It’s time to cut off the oxygen supply to this man’s ideas. Take it for granted that the video above is going to contain some very hate filled and asinine rhetoric and DON’T click on it. Don’t give him another +1 to his YouTube view meter. Don’t give him a voice. Don’t listen. Don’t continue to complete the cycle of hate be being a receptacle for more of his hate not one word.DO realize that he’s, by definition, crazy like that old relative we have at the family picnic who suffers from senility and dementia. DO just proverbially pat him on the head and say, Okay, grandpa. Yes, grandpa. You’re right, grandpa. Then, ignore his expressions and words and continue to eat your potato salad.DO resist the urge to watch his videos, click links to him and news stories about him and comment on his rhetoric and exploits.Clearly, the guy and his followers are nuts. Dangerous but nuts. The only way he’ll stop being taken seriously is if we those that oppose him shun him.To be clear, we shouldn’t pretend he doesn’t exist. That would be dangerous and create a void of apathy for him and his followers to fill, grow, scheme and act. But, like the clinical psychologist who doesn’t validate or absorb the words of a crazy person we should acknowledge he’s there, monitor him, but only respond when he’s able and willing to be sane. That may never happen. But, I feel that’s the best thing we can do.He’s never been a serious contender in any field of politics or aspect of society. Why do we continue to treat him as if he is or ever was?David K from Philly
