This is a video by Lowkey, an iraqi-british rapper, caleld obama nation. I believe one of the key tenets of music/art as activism is its ability to educate against normative frames of thought and experience of our modern society. If it actively engages you in questioning what we are taught and the ways that knowledge is produced it exists as both art and activism. Although there are many other ways to accomplish an activist approach to music, I believe Lowkey uses his musical venue for fundamentally politically/socially/educationally motivated intentions. His critique of the modern economic/imperial state is just as biting as any essay, yet also much more accessible (another tenet of activism we have spoken about). Enjoy! 0 0
